How We Built BOMBED

Not a highlight reel. This is the actual process — the real drafts that didn't work, why they didn't, and what changed. Jesse gets the final word on every single bit: laugh out loud, or it gets re-edited. No middle.

What this page is not: a claim that AI wrote Jesse's voice. It didn't. Jesse supplied fifty years of real decisions, real pain, and real taste. AI drafts fast; Jesse is the only judge of what's actually funny. Every story below is labeled with exactly how true it is — we don't blur that line.

The labeling system

Every premise on this site started as one of these. We don't hide which.

Life Truth

Actually happened, told straight.

Jesse Recollection

Really happened; details may be fuzzy or reconstructed from memory.

Comic Exaggeration

Built on a real pattern in Jesse's life; the specific event is invented for the bit.

Fictional Act-Out

A pure performance bit — not a claim that it happened.

The team

The Writer
Claude
Drafts fast, mines the true material, rewrites what doesn't land. Never ships without the next role's approval.
The Performer
The killer comic voice — fearless delivery, filthy, no filter.
Trailer Guy
The Judge
Jesse
The only bar that matters. Laughs out loud or it's cut. No exceptions, no "pretty good."
The Heart
Colors of My Pain
The real emotional truth underneath the dark jokes — the "why" that makes a roast land instead of just being mean.

Case study 1 — a confirmed win

✓ Jesse laughed out loud — kept

"Trailer Guy Roasts Jesse" (#428)

SourceLife Truth — Jesse's real businesses, real numbers, real name-change, real dogs.
The draftThird-person, movie-trailer narrator voice. Real specifics only: Angie at $700/month, fifty years old, three dogs, twenty-one thousand YouTube subscribers, two hundred dollar cleaning minimum.
Why it workedNo first-person self-pity, no generic filler, no forced cuss-word saturation — just precise, absurd-but-true facts stacked into an escalating roast, landing on one earned dark laugh at the end.
"He pays a woman named Angie seven hundred dollars a month to find him customers — and then he watches his own phone ring like it's a snake. This man figured out how to go broke ON PURPOSE. ...Scientists are baffled."
VerdictLOL — confirmed, first win of this format.

Case study 2 — live, right now

⏳ In progress — verdict pending

"The Track Record" — three misses, then a fix

SourceLife Truth + Jesse Recollection — his real divorce, real vasectomy at 23, real $300k debt, real $5,000 supercomputer.
Attempt 1–3Written first-person, self-roast, heavily cuss-saturated (7–10% density), full of generic audience filler ("motherfuckers," "you filthy degenerates") and the "that's not X, that's Y" reframe repeated on nearly every line.
Jesse's verdict"I did not laugh out loud." Three times.
The autopsyWent back to the original locked formula doc instead of guessing again. Found the actual proven-win scripts used the opposite approach: third-person narrator, sparse surgical cussing (roughly 1 cuss per 300 words, not saturated), zero generic filler, and the "reframe" pattern used once per script, sharply — not as a repeated crutch.
The rewriteSame real facts, restructured to match the actual proven pattern — third-person, one precise cuss, real numbers doing the work instead of volume of profanity.
VerdictPending — sent for judgment, not yet confirmed. This page will be updated with the real result, not a guessed one.

"People said AI couldn't make real comedy. They were partly right. AI had no life to lose. I gave it fifty years of bad decisions, true pain, fictional chaos, and one rule: if I don't laugh, rewrite it."

The standing rule

AI does not get final laugh authority. Jesse supplies the truth, the taste, and the boundaries. Every draft has to survive a repetition check, a privacy check, an honest story label, and the actual mouth test — a human being laughing, or it doesn't ship.
